250 Chinese middle and high school students coming this summer, along with 25 teachers and educators!

SPIRAL International is hosting 250 Chinese middle and high school students this summer, along with 25 teachers and educators. SPIRAL Adventure & Learning Camps will welcome students to camps at six school sites in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Connecticut, thanks to our partnership with Stilwell International Student Exchange, a travel and education organization in China.

Another Chinese partner, Xiang Jiang Secondary School is sending 14 and 15-year-olds to two other school sites for an Adventure & Learning Camp followed by US tour organized and operated by SPIRAL.

Finally, we are inaugurating a totally new camp this summer, thanks to our collaboration with the University of Vermont (UVM). Twelve high school seniors from Guangzhou will come to Burlington in July to take a college-level course with American students of the same age. The 3-week course will be taught by an American professor, and students who pass will receive three college credits to be used at UVM or any other US college. The course title is “Designing Solutions for Global Challenges” and it will cover STEM-related skills (STEM = Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics) which are now considered a fundamental element for bridging the minority and gender gaps found in these domains.
