Our week-long camps offer kids the opportunity to learn some basic Chinese words and phrases and participate in hands-on cultural activities. Projects can include designing and making a Chinese kite and lantern, and learning the art of paper cutting.
Sample camp activities:
- Learn to say colors, name common fruits and count from one to ten in Chinese. Explore the world of Chinese crafts by learning how to design and make a Chinese kite.
- Learn about the Chinese lantern Festival, the importance of lanterns in Chinese culture and make your own lanterns. Also learn Chinese words and phrases to introduce self and family members.
- Learn words and phrases about animals, particularly those twelve animals in the Chinese zodiac. What is your zodiac animal? Observe how these animals are portrayed in the Chinese art of paper cutting and make your own paper cutting crafts.
Camps are currently available through Williston Recreation & Parks, South Burlington Recreation & Parks, and Milton Recreation. Keep checking our website to find more locations as they are added!
