About this Program

SPIRAL International hosts exciting English immersion camps in the U.S. for middle and high school students from Taiwan, China, and other countries. These camps give students the chance to practice their English in real-life settings while experiencing American culture firsthand. Students join their American peers in fun, hands-on activities and group projects that help improve their language skills and build cross-cultural friendships.

What’s Included

The camps are designed to create a full immersion experience where students can learn and grow in a supportive environment.

  • Morning Activities: In the mornings, students participate in project-based learning and service-learning. These activities are designed to help them practice English while working together with American students on real-life projects.
  • Afternoon Fun: Afternoons are filled with local outings and group activities, like visiting local attractions, exploring the community, or enjoying sports and games with American peers.
  • Sample Project: For example, students might take part in a cooking project, where they team up to choose a recipe, shop for ingredients at a grocery store, and cook a meal together. This is a fun and interactive way to practice English and learn about American culture.

Living with American Families

In addition to the camp activities, students stay with host families or in dorms, giving them an inside look at daily life in the U.S. Students improve their language skills and gain confidence. This cultural exchange experience helps build lasting friendships and deepens their understanding of American life.

  • Make Lifelong Friendships: Students will meet American peers and other international students, creating friendships that last long after the camp ends.

“Some of the things my Chinese students really appreciated in the U.S.. were the host families they stayed with on their trip. They were kind and caring for our students. Secondly, they really enjoyed the American peer leader who spoke Chinese so well, and also planned a fascinating excursion day in New York. Thirdly, they loved visiting the sea and beach. Everyone was so happy there. Another highlight of the trip was the famous pizza outside Yale, amazing!”
