SPIRAL attends NY Superintendents’ conference

A delegation from SPIRAL, along with 2 Chinese guests, attended NYSCOSS, the New York State Council of School Superintendents from Sept. 22 – 24.

The New York State Council of School Superintendents (The Council) is a professional and advocacy organization with over a century of service to school superintendents, and recently assistant superintendents, in New York State. The Council provides its more than 800 members with numerous professional development opportunities, publications and personal services, while advocating for public education and the superintendency.

SPIRAL, as a Strategic Partner of NYSCOSS, attended their Annual Leadership Fall Summit in Saratoga Springs, NY and made a visual presentation in the Summit’s exhibition hall introducing its short and long term programs.   SPIRAL president Dr. Emily Guo and Dr. James Lombardo, the Superintendent of East Lyme School District and the co-director of SPIRAL EL-XJ Cooperative Program, accompanied by Chinese partners from ESC Chongqing, participated in seminars and met with New York superintendents.   Some of the superintendents expressed strong interest in working with SPIRAL to introduce international exchange programs into their communities.  SPIRAL hopes to work with school districts in New York to establish a number of English and Culture programs for summer 2014.
